About a year ago I made myself a little wool padded protector pouch for my iPhone. I loved it so much, it suited exactly how I use my phone. I like the simplicity of holding it without a bumper, but the ability to then chuck it in my hand bag (which is a bottomless pit). Last week I emptied my handbag and found a phone charger that had been missing plus a banana. And my hand bag is not even that huge! It is one of life's mysteries. I made a few phone pouches up for our shop and called it Franklin. We have been making and selling these ever since.
Franklin is hand crafted by us in our studio. We use a pure Australian wool padding, we buy direct from a certified organic farm in Mt Macedon. The lining is made from a hemp/organic cotton blend. Franklin is special because the outer fabric is re-purposed textiles we personally collect. We use anything from scarves, place mats, clothes and even tea-towels. These exquisite little gems of fabric are usually one off bits and bobs. Franklin is made in limited batches (sometimes only 1 or 2 of each fabric design), that are unrepeatable.
We received a cool suggestion this week about how to portray the unique value in each limited collection we make. Art prints are often labelled with the print number over the total prints in the series (i.e 1/5). We decided to give this a go on our packaging and promotion. A Pretty neat idea that encapsulates perfectly the artisan value of what we create here in our studio.
Oh and our Franklin phone pouches are currently on sale in our online shop at a 30% off price of $20 until Wednesday 4th September 2013.
